Debit Cards

As part of our transition to Tompkins Community Bank, Debit and ATM Card users will be issued a new card with a new card number and PIN. For security purposes, the PIN mailer will arrive separately from the card, and will be the default PIN that is applied when the card is activated. If you would like to customize this PIN, you may call the card activation line any time. If you activate your card through Tompkins Digital Banking, you will not have an option to customize your PIN within that platform. However, you may still call the activation line after activating your card to customize your PIN at your convenience.

Debit cards must be activated on or after Monday, May 9. Continue using your old card until then. ATM cards do not require activation, and can be used starting May 9.

On Monday, May 9, please:

  • Activate your new card through Digital Banking, or by calling the activation line*
  • Update any recurring payments attached to your card
  • Add your card to your Digital Wallet

Things to know:

Temporary Authorizations Between the evening of Friday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 10, pending items for card transactions will not display in Tompkins Digital Banking or Automated Phone Banking.

Fraud Protection and Travel Your spending patterns are used to help identify fraudulent charges. While building your history with your new card, you may experience occasional fraud blocks or be required to verify certain transactions. This will decrease over time with regular card use.

Travel notes will not migrate, which could also trigger a fraud block. Please be sure to contact us if you will be traveling.

*You may experience extended wait times or interrupted service when calling the card activation line. If you are unable to get through, please try again at a convenient time or activate through digital banking.
